A meeting with The Registrar of Place Names is set for the 16th June

Voting

All attending agreed that the naming of the area as Beveridge was the underlying issue we have. Many alternate names were canvassed, and after an informal voting process it was agreed by those present to seek Merriang - the district's original and current name as the Official registered name. In light of  name duplication issues arising in 2001, an agreed alternate name of Old Merriang was chosen.
With one abstention, all present agreed that Beveridge was not an acceptable solution.

Mail Changes Imminent

John Francis agreed to establish if the steps regarding mail changes could be deferred and would discuss these matters today with Council officers (29th April).
He further suggested, and it was agreed, that a small delegation be arranged to meet the Geographic Place Names Registrar with him in the immediate future. Jim White and Dr Payne agreed to attend with a Council representative  and discuss the options with the registrar.
